    What counts

One row is one incident: a burglary, robbery or meet-up robbery in California where news coverage says trading cards, sealed card product or collectible toys were taken. That covers Pokémon, sports cards, One Piece, Lorcana and Labubu. Syndicated copies of one story are merged. Video-game store thefts and shoplifting at general retailers are not counted.

    What police data can show

Several incidents match a Burbank PD release or an LAPD open-data record on date and place. Those records cannot say what was taken or what it was worth. Most other departments publish no incident-level data, so those rows rest on news reports alone.

    What is missing

A handful of leads are not yet sourced, including at least six unnamed Southern California shops that reports linked to the Burbank crew. Sacramento, the East Bay and San Jose returned no 2025–26 incidents. Cards other than Pokémon and collectible toys are thinly covered: card-shop stories tend to lead with Pokémon, and toy thefts may be reported as ordinary burglaries. News favors large, filmed thefts, and 2026 coverage is heavier, so counts over time reflect coverage as much as crime.
